Mumbai’s security has been tightened for the two-day trip of U.S President Barack Obama – the world’s most powerful man. The air space must be closed for the arrival and departure of the presidential jet. Mr Obama and his wife, Michelle Obama, are staying at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, which is strictly protected by police and safeguards. This is the 5-star hotel that was attacked by terrorists two years ago.

Advanced teams of the US secret service agents have been cooperating with local police and elite Indian National Security Guard commandos to ensure the safety of the president. CIA and FBI agents have also been working alongside security services in the city for weeks. Meanwhile, jamming equipment and electronic surveillance are used to block mobile phone signals around Barack Obama’s entourage of hundreds, too. Besides, U.S. and Indian Navy ships patrol the waters off India’s most populous city to provide additional security.
